Tree Removal from the Crew That Lives in Ajax

A dead ash on a Salem lot, a silver maple split by ice over a Westney bungalow, a Manitoba maple tight against a Pickering Village foundation — this is the work we do every week, a few minutes from the shop.

Unparalleled Tree Service is based at 154 Clements Road East. Clinton Sharpe and the ISA Certified crew know Ajax species, the clay soils, and which removals need a Town permit. We have taken down more than 200 trees in Ajax over the past three years.

Why Ajax Homeowners Call Us for Tree Removal

Ajax removals are mostly ice damage, end-of-life ash, and maples that outgrew the lot they were planted on.

Ice Storm Failures

Late-winter ice loads split limbs and take down trees that were already weak. We clear trees off roofs, cars, and driveways, then remove what is left so it cannot fall again.

Overgrown Lot Maples

Silver maples and Manitoba maples planted on 1970s–90s lots along Westney, Audley, and Pickering Village now crowd roofs and foundations. We take them down in sections when there is no room to fell.

Dead Ash After EAB

Emerald ash borer killed white ash across Ajax. A standing dead ash gets brittle and unpredictable. We prioritize those removals before the next wind or ice event.

Tight Access Between Houses

South Ajax and the older streets have fences, hydro lines, and neighbouring roofs a few metres away. We rig and lower wood instead of dropping it through the yard.

We Take a Tree Down When It Has to Go

A silver maple with a sound trunk and room to prune should stay. A standing dead ash, a trunk split to the union, or a tree already leaning on the roof should not. We say which one you have before anyone starts a saw.

If pruning, cabling, or treatment will keep the tree, that is the quote you get. Removal is the recommendation when the tree is dead, failed, or a risk we cannot reduce another way.

Our Tree Removal Process in Ajax

From the first call to a clean yard.

1

Free On-Site Assessment

We come to the property, look at the tree, the targets around it, and how we can get equipment in, then give you a firm written quote.

2

Permit Check

We tell you whether Town of Ajax By-law 137-2006, the boulevard tree bylaw, or the Durham Region woodlot bylaw applies. When a permit is required, we prepare the application.

3

Controlled Removal

Climbing, rigging, or directional felling — whichever fits the site — so the tree comes down without hitting the house, the fence, or the lawn you want to keep.

4

Cleanup and Stump Option

Branches are chipped, wood is cut to manageable lengths, and the site is raked out. Stump grinding can happen the same day or on a later visit.

Tree Removal in Ajax — Common Questions

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Ajax?

Most single-family lots in Ajax are under 1.2 hectares. On those lots, Town of Ajax Tree Protection By-law 137-2006 generally does not require a permit for a private tree, unless the land is zoned Private Open Space. A permit is required for woodlots, Greenbelt and environmental protection lands, parks and open space, and many development sites. Boulevard trees belong to the Town and are covered by a separate bylaw. Dead, diseased, and hazardous trees are exempt from the private-tree permit. We check the lot and the tree, then prepare the Town's cutting application when one is actually required. Call (289) 200-8441 if you want that checked before you book.

How quickly can you respond to an emergency in Ajax?

The shop is on Clements Road East. We can be at an Ajax address in under 10 minutes when a tree is on a structure or blocking the only way in. For after-hours calls, phone (289) 200-8441 and we will say whether it needs a crew now or can wait until morning. See our emergency tree removal service.

Can I keep the wood after removal?

Yes. Tell us the length you want and we will stack the logs on site. Branches are chipped and hauled unless you want the chips left as mulch.

Do you handle stump removal too?

Yes. Stump grinding is an add-on. We grind about 6–8 inches below grade, deep enough to sod or plant over. See our stump grinding service. On most Ajax lots we can grind the same day as the removal.

What parts of Ajax do you cover?

All of it — Westney Heights, Village of Pickering, Salem, South Ajax, Carruthers Creek, Riverside, Audley, Greenwood, Lakeside. If the address is in the Town of Ajax, it is in our daily range.

Do you document why a tree should come down?

Yes. When we recommend removal, the written Tree Health Care assessment says why the tree cannot be kept and what it is threatening. That note is what insurers and the Town usually ask for.
