What You Get With Our Line Clearing Service

Utility Safe

We work near energized lines following ESA (Electrical Safety Authority) guidelines. We know the minimum approach distances and when to request a line de-energization.

Prevents Outages

Proactive line clearing prevents branches from contacting lines during storms — reducing your risk of outages, fires, and fallen lines.

Directional Pruning

Where possible, we use directional pruning to guide future growth away from lines rather than repeated removal.

Commercial & Municipal

We work with property managers, municipalities, and utilities on large-scale vegetation management corridors.

Our Process

1

Clearance Assessment

We identify which branches are in violation of clearance requirements and the extent of work required.

2

Utility Coordination (if needed)

For work requiring a line de-energization, we coordinate with the utility provider. Residential work within clearance zones often doesn't require this.

3

Pruning & Removal

We remove or prune conflicting branches, using aerial equipment where necessary to work safely at height.

4

Debris Removal

All cut material is chipped and hauled away, leaving the corridor and your property clear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I prune branches near hydro lines myself?

No — working near energized lines without proper training and equipment is extremely dangerous. Ontario law prohibits non-utility workers from working within minimum approach distances of energized lines.

Will the utility company do this for free?

Utilities like Hydro One and local distribution companies (like Elexicon in Durham) maintain clearance along their easements and may trim trees in the utility corridor. However, trees on private property that grow into lines are typically the homeowner's responsibility.
