We grind to 6–10 inches below grade — deep enough to turf, plant a new tree, or build a patio on top.

Access & Setup
We assess access for the grinder (most can fit through a standard gate) and mark any underground obstacles.
Grinding
Our grinder reduces the stump and surface roots to wood chips, grinding to the requested depth below grade.
Fill & Level
We fill the hole with the ground-up wood chips, top with soil, and rake level.
Dispose or Keep
Excess chips are hauled away, or spread as mulch in your garden beds if you prefer.

Can you grind stumps in tight spaces?
Yes — we have compact grinder attachments that fit through standard 36" gates and work in tight backyard spaces.
Will the stump grow back after grinding?
For most species, grinding well below grade ends sprouting. Some (like Manitoba maple and sumac) may still sprout from remaining roots — we can advise on herbicide treatment for stubborn species.
Do I need to mark underground utilities?
